About Me.
I am Gil Burstein, and I sculpt complex, detailed, and dynamic human figures. My artistic journey encompasses a diverse array of mediums, including clay, bronze, and iron. Originally hailing from Kibbutz Nirim, I now call Tel Aviv my home, where I immerse myself in the creative process.
My exploration delves into the intricate realm of emotions and relationships—between the figure itself, others, and the surrounding environment. Through my sculptures, I aim to elicit independent thoughts and responses from the viewer, transferring the responsibility of interpretation onto their shoulders.
For me, bronze sculpture is more than just a medium—it is an energetic fusion of investment, artistic vision, and meticulous technical execution. Each piece tells a story, inviting contemplation and inspiration from those who engage with it.
In my work, I confront the human form unabashedly. We are born into this world unclothed, yet we often strive to conceal our bodies. Through the medium of bronze, I reveal the raw, unfiltered essence of the human form, celebrating its beauty and strength.
The movement captured in my sculptures serves to amplify the emotions that stirred within me during their creation. Sometimes, the true emotion behind a piece only reveals itself to me once the sculpture is complete. Other times, I feel as though my creations are imbued with a foresight, emerging at precisely the right moment to resonate with the zeitgeist.
My sculptures serve as timeless artifacts, leaving an indelible mark on the tapestry of human history. As time marches forward, they will continue to provoke thought and intrigue, offering glimpses into our shared past and present.
I believe in the transformative power of art to broaden horizons and foster cultural evolution. Currently, I am dedicated to refining my skills in realistic sculpture, seeking to expand my expressive toolkit. My inspiration flows from authentic, primal sources, guiding me towards a world of boundless creativity and exploration.
